AI coloring book generator for Amazon KDP
Bookbind turns one sentence into a finished coloring book: a planned page list, every design drawn as clean black line art in one consistent style, a single-sided 300 DPI interior at your exact KDP trim size, and a cover wrap. It is free to plan, and nothing is drawn until you approve the price.
No card needed to plan. New accounts start with 25 free credits.
A real sample, not a mock-up
Barnyard Besties was made from one sentence: “A coloring book about a pig and a duck having a summer adventure on the farm.” Thick lines, big shapes to fill, and the same pig and duck on every page. With recurring characters on, every page is drawn against one locked reference sheet of the cast, not just a description, so they stay the same characters rather than look-alikes.
How it works
- 1
Describe the book in a sentence
The theme and who it is for. Specific beats broad: cozy cats in reading nooks finds buyers that cats never will.
- 2
Pick the reader and the line style
Children or adults, then one of six line styles, from chunky outlines for small hands to fine mandala work. Keep recurring characters on to draw the same cast on every page.
- 3
Choose the size and length
20, 30, 40 or 50 designs at 8.5 × 11 in or 8.5 × 8.5 in. Every design gets a blank back, so 30 designs print as a 60-page interior.
- 4
Approve the page list and price
Planning is free. You see every planned page and the exact credit price, and nothing is drawn until you approve.
- 5
Download and upload to KDP
A print-ready interior PDF, a cover wrap sized to the page count, and KDP's paperback screens in order with your values filled in.
Six line styles
One style holds for the whole book, so it reads as if one artist drew every page. Style drift between pages is the clearest sign of a carelessly made AI coloring book, and buyers spot it in the preview.
Kawaii chibiKids
Big eyes, round shapes, very thick lines. Easiest for small hands.
Bold & simpleKids
Chunky outlines, few shapes per page. Toddlers and beginners.
StorybookKids and adults
Charming scenes with a little more going on.
BotanicalAdults
Flowers, leaves and vines with fine detail.
Mandala & patternAdults
Symmetrical, meditative, intricate.
WhimsicalKids and adults
Playful, curling, slightly surreal scenes.
Built to KDP's print spec
Most homemade coloring books fail at upload or in the printed proof, not in the drawing. These are the rules every page is held to.
| What | The spec | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Trim size | 8.5 × 11 in or 8.5 × 8.5 in | The standard for adult coloring books. The square size suits children's and gift books. |
| Resolution | 300 DPI | Anything lower prints with soft, fuzzy edges. |
| Ink | Pure black outlines on white | Grey prints as dotted halftone, and solid black areas cannot be colored. |
| Layout | Single-sided | A blank back behind every design stops markers bleeding through. |
| Bleed | None needed | Designs sit inside a white margin, so the interior is submitted at exact trim size. |
| Outlines | Closed, no text on the art | Every region can be filled, and nothing reads as a printing fault. |

What it costs
You pay once per book, quoted before anything is drawn. These are typical quotes; your plan shows the exact one.

| 30 | 60 | 173 | $17.30 |

| 50 | 100 | 264 | $26.40 |
Dollar figures use credit-pack prices. Redrawing a page that misses costs 6 credits. To see what a copy earns once it is on sale, try the KDP royalty calculator, and the KDP cover calculator gives the spine width for your page count.
Before you publish
- Pick a specific reader. Broad themes like mandalas or animals are hundreds of books deep. A coloring book for nurses, gardeners or a single dog breed competes with far fewer.
- Disclose the AI images. KDP asks during upload. The AI disclosure checker tells you how to answer, and our guide to the KDP AI rules covers the edge cases.
- Order a proof copy. One printed copy shows line weight in real ink and margins on real paper, which no screen can.
Questions people ask
- Can I sell AI-generated coloring books on Amazon KDP?
- Yes. KDP publishes books with AI-generated images, as long as you disclose them when you upload. It is one question in the upload form, and disclosing does not stop a book from being published. The book still has to meet KDP's content rules, so never use characters, logos or brands you do not own.
- Is the AI coloring book generator free?
- Planning is free and needs no card: you see the page list and the exact price before anything is drawn. New accounts start with 25 free credits toward a book. A 30-design book is about 173 credits, roughly $17.30 at credit-pack prices, and downloading the files is always free.
- Who owns the coloring pages?
- You do. Bookbind claims no rights in what you make and takes no share of your sales. One thing worth knowing: in the US, artwork generated entirely by AI may not be protected by copyright on its own, so your selection and arrangement of pages, and anything you add yourself, are the parts you can most clearly claim.
- Why are the pages printed single-sided?
- Markers bleed through paper. With a blank back behind every design, a heavy-handed page ruins nothing else, and any page can be torn out and framed. Coloring book buyers look for it and mention it in reviews. It also doubles the interior page count, which the price reflects.
- What size should a coloring book be?
- 8.5 × 11 inches is the standard for adult coloring books and what buyers compare against. 8.5 × 8.5 inches is popular for children's and gift books. The interior is built at the exact trim size you choose, with no bleed, because every design sits inside a white margin.
- Can it make coloring books for adults?
- Yes. Choose adults as the reader and the botanical, mandala or whimsical styles give fine, layered linework with more to color. Children's books get thicker lines and bigger shapes that small hands can finish.
- Does it make the cover too?
- Yes. The download includes a print-ready cover wrap with the back, spine and front in one file, sized to your page count. A coloring book is a paperback only, so there is no Kindle edition.
