Ebook ideas worth writing

38 complete ideas, not topics. Each one names a reader and a promise, which is the difference between a book that writes itself and a blank morning. Click any of them to see it planned into chapters, free.

How to tell a real idea from a dead one

Name the person, not the topic

Productivity is a topic. Freelancers who keep saying yes to unpaid work is a reader. Every downstream decision gets easier once the reader is a person.

Promise a change

Finish the sentence: by the last page, they can now do what. If you cannot answer, you have a collection of related facts rather than a book.

Check the shelf

Search the exact idea on Amazon. A handful of results with reviews means demand exists and you can still be found. Hundreds means you are late. None means search adjacent phrasings before you decide it is an opportunity.

Bring something only you have

One story, one number, one opinion you would defend. It is what stops the book reading like every other book on the subject, and no tool can invent it for you.

Questions people ask

How do I know if an ebook idea is any good?
Three tests. Can you name the exact person it is for? Can you say what changes for them by the last page? Does a search for it on Amazon return a handful of books with reviews rather than none or hundreds? An idea that passes all three is worth writing.
What kind of ebook sells best?
Practical nonfiction for a specific audience: how-to guides, workbooks and lead magnets. They are bought for a reason rather than browsed, which makes them findable, and they do not compete with the entire fiction market.
Is my ebook idea too niche?
Almost certainly not. Niche is what makes a book findable and giftable. A book for everyone competes with every book; a book for night-shift nurses competes with almost nothing and gets bought by people who feel seen.
